Bromelain 5000
Bromelaine - Quality bromelaine from selected source, for digestion, allergies and inflammation
Bromelain extract is a mixture of protease (proteolytic) enzymes – mainly cysteine protease - isolated from the stems of pineapples (Ananas comosus), although it exists in other parts of the fresh plant and fruit. The extract has a history of folk medicine use. These enzymes are so proteases, which break down protein into its building blocks, including amino acids. This aids the digestion and absorption of proteins. E1101 if considered as a food additive.
Manufacturer : The manufacturer is the ww leader, and grows pineapple in the coastal regions where there is abundant rainfall and humid climate. They have an agreement with the farmers and also have their own farms. The temperature is between 22 deg to 36 deg without a huge difference in the day night temperature. In between the pineapple plants, papaya is grown. This helps to manage the water usage. Weeding is done manually though it is not a big concern. Fertilizers are not so much used. The soil is maintained at a pH of 5.5 to 6.0.
Cultivation : Cultivation is started between April – June, just before the rainy season. Any kind of soil is OK though sandy loam is very good. Soil should be able to drain water. Soil that logs water is not good for pineapple. Rain water is sufficient but when rains are scant then irrigation is done once in two weeks. It typically takes 2-2.5 years for pineapples to get ready for harvest. Once harvested, the fruit is sold to the fruit industry and the stem is dried and used for mafacturing bromelain.
Bromelain corresponds to a mixture of different thiol endopeptidases and other components like phosphatase, glucosidase, peroxidase, cellulase, escharase, and several protease inhibitors. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrate that bromelain exhibits various fibrinolytic, antiedematous, antithrombotic, and anti-inflammatory activities. When given to treat pain, it must be administered away from food, because it will act as a protein digestive enzyme if consumed with food.Various grades are available : 1200, 2500 or 5000 U, including deodorized 5000 GDU / g (Bromelaine has a fairly strong smell) - Water extract
Units: 1 FIP/mg is about equivalent to 500 GDU/g, so 5 000 GDU correspond to 10 FIP, and 1 200 GDU / g correspond to about 2.4 FIP / mg.
Our grade 5 000 GDU is deodorized, without any excipient (ie. so also no maltoextrin)
INCI : Kératolytique : Décolle et élimine les cellules mortes de la couche cornée de l'apiderme / Agent d'entretien de la peau : Maintient la peau en bon état
Enzymes - Nutritional enzymes
Digestive enzymes are necessary to break down molecules into even smaller molecules that can be easily absorbed. We usually consider three main types of digestive enzymes :
Proteases: Break down protein into small peptides and amino acids
Lipases: Break down fat into three fatty acids plus a glycerol molecule
Amylases: Amylase to break down carbs like starch into simple sugars (alpha or beta) , but aso Lactase, Cellulase, etc...
