Different essential oil fractions can be obtained from plant, by pressing but most of the time using SCFE extraction process (Super critical fluid extraction) form instance from Coleus forskohlii, Neem, Rosemary, Vitex, Pumpkin, Dill, Curcuma, etc…
In personal care and cosmetic products, most of the oil have been shown for their antimicrobial activity, or against acne, and for sensitive skin.
In nutrition, oils are used as a source of fatty acids, or for a specific content in soem bioefficient fatty acid (for instance CLnA - punici acid).
Vitex - Vitex oil, acne and inflammation
Vitex oil is a standardized extract from the berries of Vitex agnus castus and contains a minimum of 30% total free fatty acids, 10% linoleic acid and 0.4% Artemetin. It has antimicrobial properties and can be used in anti-acne (in-vitro study) skin care products. It appears as a reddish brown to golden brown oily liquid.
Vitex Oil is presently used in cosmetic products.
Vitex oil exhibits remarkable ability to reduce or eliminate hot flashes and night sweats. Also reported that vaginal tone and lubrication is markedly improved.
