Sapindin

Sapindin
Sapindin - Sapindin From Sapindus trifoliatus (Soap nut)
The powdered nuts of the Soap tree are traditionally used as a mild detergent for washing hair, as a hair tonic and in the management of dental caries. The leaves are used in a bath to relieve joint pain and the roots are used in the management of gout and rheumatism. The pericarp is a rich source of saponins that function as a mild detergent, cleanser, surfactant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agent. Saponins with antifungal activity have been isolated from the water extract of the pericarp of the fruit3. These saponins contain the sapogenin:bederagenin. Sapindosides (monodesmosides and bisdesmosides) such as Sapindosides A, B and C have been isolated and characterized. A number of patented formulations that help in maintaining skin texture, elasticity, and tone and some providing anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial action are reported to contain Sapindus saponins as one of the active ingredients.
Natural Surfactant (shampoos, body washes etc.), antimicrobial, anti-dandruff.
