Resveratrol - Synthetic Resveratrol - Antioxidant, cardiovascular, anti inflammatory, ...
Resveratrol is a natural compound found in red grape skin, Japanese knotweed (polygonum cuspidatum), as well as in peanuts, blueberries and some other berries. It is a powerful antioxidant produced by some plants to protect them against environmental stresses. It can be also processed by synthesis. This polyphenolic phytoalexin has a number of scientifically proven health-promoting properties associated with a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, lowering the concentration of low-density lipoprotein, and the ability to inhibit the cyclooxygenases activity. Additionally, it has antiproliferative, anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties.- In nutrition, Resveratrol has been promoted to have many health benefits such as protecting the heart and circulatory system, lowering cholesterol, and protecting against clots which can cause heart attacks and stroke. Animal studies have suggested it can lower blood sugar levels. A brief study demonstrated that resveratrol significantly lowered mean systolic and arterial blood pressure, tumor necrosis factor (a marker of inflammation), plasma glucose and insulin concentrations, and plasma triglyceride concentrations, among other findings.
- Resveratrol is now being increasingly used in cosmetology and dermatology, associated with proven ability to penetrate the skin barrier and antiaging activity : It can stimulate the proliferation of fibroblasts, contributing to the increase in the concentration of collagen III. Resveratrol has an affinity for the estrogen protein receptors, thereby contributing to the stimulation of collagen types I and II production. Moreover, it can protect cells against oxidative damage associated with the effects of free radicals and UV radiation on the skin by reducing the expression of AP-1 and NF-KB factors and it slows down the process of photoaging of the skin.
Synthesis - Synthesis products and Intermediates
Becarre also represents certain molecules obtained by synthesis, which can be also initially present in plants but in too low a content or with the presence of other undesirable molecules.
It can also be improved grades by synthesis or hemisynthesis, such as L-Seleno-methionine which was initially created by Sabinsa (or forms of other minerals such as Zinc picolinate or Monomethionine), always with the desire to improve bioavailability.
Finally, there are synthetic intermediates (for example aromatic synthesis), in particular produced by Organica, a subsidiary of Sabinsa.
