Eclipta contains coumestans such as wedelolactone. The plant has traditional uses in Ayurveda. It is bitter, hot, sharp, dry in taste. In India it is known as bhangra, bhringaraj, and bhringraja.
It is given in the treatment of edema, fevers, liver disorders, and rheumatic joint pains; it is also used to improve the appetite and to stimulate digestion
It is believed to prevent aging, maintain and rejuvenate hair, teeth, bones, memory, sight, and hearing : it is reported to improve hair growth and the black color of our hair.
