Barley Beta Glucan

Barley Beta Glucan
Barley - Barley extract
Barley (Hordeum vulgare) is one of the first cultivated grains, particularly in Eurasia. However, barley is rarely used in the food industry (except for beverages, especiallu alcoholic), even though it is a main source of beta-glucans, which have important health benefits and a technological role in food.
Beta glucan - Beta glucan - multiple functional and bioactive fiber
Beta glucan is a fiber readily available from cereals, bacteria, and fungi, with significantly differing physicochemical properties dependent on source. It has been gaining interest due to its multiple functional and bioactive properties. Its beneficial role in insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and obesity is being continuously documented. The fermentability of beta-glucans and their ability to form highly viscous solutions in the human gut may constitute the basis of their health benefits. Consequently, the applicability of beta-glucan as a food ingredient is being widely considered with the dual purposes of increasing the fiber content of food products and enhancing their health properties.
It is renowned for its immune-enhancing properties due to its ability to stimulate the activation of macrophages (immune response cells which engulf invading organisms).
It's said also it supports healthy skin, teeth, hair, and bones, and aids metabolism essential for energy production, usualy together with vitamins.
