Multiple perimenopausal outcomes with aspurus

The clinical study with Aspurus (innovative shatavari extract launched during Vitafoods and NFBD) shows early Improvements across multiple perimenopausal outcomes - 7 bioarkers, 5 studies, 17 parameters controlles

Waleria (aspurus® Shatavari represented by BECARRE Natural) has announced the publication of a new perimenopausal clinical study involving 150 women, showing improvements as early as four weeks, with a reduction in overall symptom burden across 12 domains. Published in the Journal of Dietary Supplements, the 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicentre study showed significant reductions in vasomotor, psychological, cognitive, and physical symptoms.

While most perimenopause studies focus on the frequency of symptom improvement, such as the number of hot flashes, this study design was innovative in its end-consumer-focused outcome approach, evaluating both the frequency and intensity of symptoms across the twelve major perimenopause symptom domains using the MSSI-38. Along with it, other validated scales were used to assess exclusively perimenopausal brain fog, fatigue, stress, joint pain, and sexual health. This innovative end-user-focused clinical study design provides the R&D team with broader clinical insights across multiple perimenopausal symptom domains, supporting more targeted consumer-relevant language claims.

Aspurus®, shatavari root extract mimicking the Shatavari root's phytoprofile is validated with seven bioactives and 5% Shatavarins. It's a whole-plant Shatavari extract with seven identified bioactives, present in the root and mimicked in the extract at the same composition profile ratio.

Compared with placebo, women receiving aspurus experienced significant improvements across several perimenopausal symptoms during the 12-week intervention. Improvements were observed in hot flashes (76.7%) and fatigue (74.6%), along with brain fog (44.9%), stress (51.7%), mood (51.1%), sexual health (60%), sleep (45.1%) and overall quality of life (51.1%). aspurus® is the only Shatavari extract to study improvements in brain fog, (energy) fatigue and libido in peri-menopausal women. The extract was well tolerated throughout the study, with no serious adverse events reported.

"Perimenopause is a highly individual experience, and women rarely experience the same journey. As women consumers become more informed about their health and track a wider range of health signals," said Komal Baldwa, Founder of Waleria Healthtech. " We elevated the study design to evaluate both the frequency and intensity of symptoms across multiple domains, reflecting the experience of modern perimenopausal women.”
